Tony and Eleanor Damoglou recently acquired 71 Main Street Moira -a lovely old four storey Grade 2 Listed town house sold by Kingham Properties.

For many years the property lay derelict and was an eyesore in what is otherwise a picturesque village.

Mr Damoglou commented: “We look forward to the challenge of its restoration, in conjunction with Historic Monuments Branch of DOE, to a family home.”

In a 40 year period this is the fifth house that the Damoglou’s have tackled and they are pleased to be returning to Main Street Moira where they restored No. 104 in 1983.

The family intend to move into Moira once their present home in Magheralin is sold.

Mr Damoglou said: “This house has also been restored to perfection and brought up to a high spec with solar panels and external insulation almost halving their fuel bills. So it is time to tackle another house and finally grow old gracefully.”

For many years the property had lain idle and showing the signs of dereliction with its off white paintwork peeling to reveal splotches of red paint underneathNow with it’s fresh lick of paint one local told the Star: “It hasn’t just transformed the building but the entire street, removing what had become a real eyesore in the village.”
