The Youth Leadership Development Competition programme has been designed to encourage a greater understanding of the European Parliament as well as further developing leadership skills.

Each school sent in their best leader who completed a written submission paper and then was interviewed by a panel of Rotarians on four areas: their personal achievements; work experience; leadership; and planning and organizational skills.

The four entrants were: Courtney Cox from Loreto College; Emma Whitmarsh from Coleraine High School; Natasha McGill from Dunluce School; and Mollie Makhsous-Abkenar from St. Joseph’s College. They all represent the best and brightest in the Coleraine Area.

Mollie was chosen as the overall winner and will represent Coleraine in the All Ireland Youth Leadership Finals to be held the end of November. If successful she will then go on to represent Coleraine in Brussels.

Over the last two years the Rotary Club of Coleraine is proud to have had two representatives as All Ireland Finalists visiting the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
