Monkstown home improvement works scheduled for 2017

The Housing Executive has given an assurance that an External Cyclical Maintenance scheme will go ahead in Monkstown in 2017.

The Executive was responding to concerns that the property maintenance project in the estate may have been put on the long finger.

“The Monkstown ECM scheme has been programmed as Newtownabbey 2 District’s first priority scheme for 2017/18 and is scheduled to begin in Spring 2017,” an NIHE spokesperson said.

Disappointed that the scheme will not be commencing until next year, DUP Cllr Stephen Ross said: “As part of the reserve programme, the work on 198 homes was due to start in 2016. This has now been postponed and I’m disappointed that it will not be starting until 2017.”
