Montgomery’s to re-open

BALLYMENA’S retail sector is set to get a boost as the popular Montgomerys Restaurant of Ballymoney Street is to re-open on Wednesday May 23rd.

There was great sadness back in March as the family business announced they were to cease trading after 82 years.

However the Montgomerys family were delighted to confirm on Friday, that they are to re-open the restaurant later this month, creating approximately 32 new jobs.

Its customers will be able to enjoy the special scrambled eggs, Montgomerys six piece fry, quality lunches, tea, coffee and home-made scones.

Clients will be glad to hear that the ivories of the white grand piano will be tinkling again at lunch times.

A new function room/conference facility for special occasions/business meetings will be available to cater for parties of up to 50 people.

With under three weeks until the re-opening, the hard work has already begun to get the restaurant ready.

Approximately 30 full/part time staff will be employed and application forms are available online at www.montgomerys.net.

Tenants are still being sought for the Ground and First Floors of the building on Ballymoney Street.

A spokesperson said: “Montgomerys would like to thank the local MP, council officials, the Ballymena public and the wider community for their unrelenting support through what has been a very difficult time for the family.

“The hundreds of letters, cards, e-mails, facebook messages and telephone calls have been overwhelming, even the trays of chocolate brownies have helped to ease the pain.

“Montgomerys looks forward to seeing many of the old faces back in the restaurant and some of the very old faces.”
