Monthly craft sessions at First Carrick

A brand new craft-based initiative will be kicking off at the end of this month in First Carrickfergus Presbyterian Church.

The North Street venue will be hosting ‘Messy Church’ sessions for families from September 27, according to director of Youth Ministries, David Penney.

“It’s a new take on church and it’s more for people who wouldn’t normally go to church,” said David. “The focus will be on having fun with crafting, there’ll be a story and a meal together.

“It’ll be geared towards the whole family, not just kids.”

The monthly initiative will start on Sunday, September 27 and will run from 3:30pm to 5:30pm.

First Carrickfergus also hosted a registration night last week, giving parents the chance to sign their children up for the various youth organisations at the church.

“We ran one registration night for all our youth organisations including Girls’ Brigade, Boys’ Brigade, the Youth Club and Youth Fellowship,” David added.

“We had somewhere between 100 and 200 parents who attended to sign their children up for one or more of the organisations.

“A lot of them were returning from our Holiday Bible Club and Youth Week during the summer which was really good to see.”

The various youth groups will be officially launched from this week onwards, with Girls Brigade tonight (Thursday), Boys Brigade tomorrow, and the Youth Club and Fellowship groups to follow at the weekend.

Parents can also register on the opening nights.

All events will be taking place in the War Memorial Halls on Lancasterian Street.
