Moorfields Cavalier is top of the pups

MOORFIELDS Cavaliers are celebrating yet more dog showing success with their Cavalier, Moorfields Hero, winning his class at the prestigious Crufts competition at the NEC in Birmingham.

Owned by Robert and Heather Lamont, Moorfields Cavaliers are no strangers to success having bred and shown Cavaliers for 30 years.

Hero is only the fourth Moorfields Cavalier to win at Crufts and Heather is one very pleased owner.

“We are delighted with the win Hero is in very good company with some other super dogs winning these awards. It is such a great achievement as Crufts is still the elite competition for showing dogs,” Heather said.

She added: “Hero has been winning awards since he was a pup, at the British Championship shows he won Best puppy aged six months.

“He was also best puppy dog at the NICKCS club championship and first in the junior section at a Belfast show in 2008.

“Dog showing is our hobby and has become our passion, some people play golf, we show dogs.

“We have made many friends since we started and going to competitions like Crufts is a great chance to see people we haven’t seen in a while.

“We have plenty of shows left this year, during the summer we will be dog showing in Ireland, almost every weekend.”

One of Hero’s puppies has already followed in her father’s award winning footsteps.

Moorfields Marceline won best cavalier puppy at a St Patrick’s show in Dublin last Wednesday and if this form continues, Moorfields may have another Crufts champion in the making.
