More exam success for Lismore pupils

LISMORE students and staff celebrated another successful GCSE exam results.

168 students undertook 1,378 examinations in 25 different subjects with every student in a non-selected Year 12 cohort with a very wide spectrum of ability achieving a range of GCSEs.

The overall pass rate was 97 per cent with 64 per cent in the higher A* to C category. Over 90 per cent of students achieved five or more GCSEs.

Among individual performances were Charlotte Boyd who obtained seven A* and two As and Sandra Fontes who gained six A*, three As and one B grade. Sandra is originally from Portugal and has only been in Lismore for two years.

Thomas McCaughley got nine A grades, with one star, while Caitriona Lamph and Cillian McDowell both achieved two A*, six A and one B grades.

A large number of other students achieved noteworthy successes with a range of A* or A grades. These included Jordan McStravick, Ciara Mulholland, Megan Lappin, Deborah Bates, Ciara Lamph, Ashleigh McManus, Roseanne Callaghan, Tanya Kearns, Olivia Wilson, Riona Murray, Maxine Baker, Elliott Bunting, Naomi Kennedy, Nula McCoy, Ciara O’Hara, Lana Teague.

“I would like to congratulate our students on their GCSE successes and wish them all the best for the future," said principal Joe Corrigan.

"They have worked tremendously hard, and have been ably taught by our dedicated staff, and supported by their parents.

“Most of our students are returning to Lismore to embark on a programme of A - Level study where students can choose from a range of 24 different A Level subjects.

"Their achievements so far will stand them in good stead as they embark on the next stage of their education,” he added.
