More focus needed on PMS savers says McQuillan MLA

“This is an issue that affects thousands of people in Northern Ireland, many who live in my constituency of East Londonderry,” he said.

“Savers out there put their life savings into this mutual society in good faith, only to be denied access to their savings,” said the MLA.

Mr McQuillan added: “The Westminster Government has failed the PMS savers.

“They protected various credit unions and sought compensation from Iceland for Britons who lost money abroad, but they have failed the savers within the PMS here in this loyal part of the United Kingdom.

“Our Government has bailed out the bankers who nearly brought this country to its knees – so why can’t they help a small but dedicated group of savers, many of whom are pensioners?”
