Mossley WI members learn about borough’s parks and cemeteries

THE Manager of Newtownabbey Borough Council’s parks and cemeteries, Margaret Lindsay, was the guest speaker at Mossley Women’s Institute’s April meeting.

Margaret gave a talk about the many parks and cemeteries in the borough, covering a variety of subjects including the number of staff employed in the parks department, routes for walks and seasonal floral displays and planting. Members learned that there is a five-year waiting list for allotments, but that a proposed new allotment in the New Mossley area should ease the problem.

Lydia Finlay won the competition ‘A Flower Arrangement in a Teacup’, with Ann Graham coming second. Essie Kerr won the ballot.

The next meeting will be on Thursday, May 2 in Mossley Parish Church Hall. The guest speaker will be from Asda.

New members/visitors will be made most welcome.
