Mother and child seen after an ‘incident’ outside A&E

A MOTHER and her eight-month-old child were seen and assessed by the emergency department at Altnagelvin after falling outside A&E at the Londonderry hospital last week.

Both sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident but were able to be discharged after being seen by medical staff.

The Western Health and Social Care Trust (WHSCT) said it was currently investigating the incident which occured last Tuesday.

A spokesperson said: “An incident has been reported involving a mother and child outside the Emergency Department at Altnagelvin Hospital on 14 June 2011.

“The mother and child were both seen and assessed at the Emergency Department following the incident and were able to be discharged. The incident is currently being investigated by the Trust.”
