Motivationalspeaker andfirewalkerchallenges business community

LISBURN City Council has invited motivational speaker and life adventurer Bryan Dunlop who uses fire walking to illustrate how to change mindset is to share his secrets on achieving success at an event to support local entrepreneurship.

Entitled ‘Ambition, Attitude and Action’, the event which forms part of the Graduate Into Business Programme, promises to inspire and motivate all attendees.

Over the past 14 years Bryan has been encouraging individuals, sports people and business leaders to break down pre conceived attitudes and old mindsets.

Giving talks on his own life experiences and utilising fire walking to demonstrate changes in mindset, Bryan’s straight forward attitude to challenging behaviours is both encouraging and refreshing. His own story is truly remarkable. Having won the junior rowing championship for Ireland, he then served with the elite 2nd Gurkha Rifles. After leaving the Gurkhas he spent time travelling in Nepal, leading climbing and white water rafting expeditions.

In 1992 while working on a diamond mine in Angola, he and his team were taken into captivity by the UNITA Rebel Army for three days, with no food or water and uncertain of their future. Subsequently after being released and evacuated to Namibia, Byran and his team were back in war torn Angola within two days. This was a life changing moment for Bryan, and as he explained: “Sometimes it’s about facing fear head on.”

Event sponsors Lisburn City Council are holding the seminar to support and highlight the work of local entrepreneurs. The event forms part of the on-going support made available to entrepreneurs through the Graduate Into Business Programme.

Director of Environmental Services Mr Colin McClintock explained: “Local entrepreneurs make a huge impact through services and product offerings, and economically by contributing jobs to our communities. In these challenging times we want to recognise the good work of those entrepreneurs locally and motivate them to continue through the uncertain times ahead.”
