Motorcyle run for Balloughry Playgroup

A MOTORCYCLE run has raised funds for Balloughry Playgroup.

On Sunday 25th July Gary Stewart of ‘On Yer Bike’ Motorcycle Training in association with Sam Connolly Motorcycles urged the motorcyclists of Londonderry to get on their bikes for a good cause to raise money for Ballougry Playgroup on Balloughry Hill Road, Mullenan. At least 98 Bikes obliged.

Because its location, Balloughry Playgroup's catchment is from both sides of the border. The unfortunate knock on effect of this, says the fundraising event’s organisers, is that Balloughry Playgroup doesn't receive any of the grants or funding that other playgroups are entitled to because of its cross-border catchment. Therefore it relies almost exclusively on voluntary contributions to fund it.

Leader of the pack Gary Stewart led the kindhearted bikers on a run around the majority of the Innisowen 100 starting at 1pm leaving Bridgend going via Muff, Moville, Culdaff, Gleneely, Malin, a half hour stop at Carndonagh to stretch the legs and take on some refreshments (mainly ice cream) then onwards via Ballyliffin, Clonmany, Buncrana and back to Balloughry Primary School for some tea and sandwiches.

A total of 625 was raised through the run which Gary presented to Mary Owens of Balloughry Playgroup.
