Inspector Nigel Graham, Banbridge Neighbourhood and Response, said: “This is dangerous driving at its worst - there is no excuse for this speed on a public highway. This motorist has been reported to the PPS for excess speed and dangerous driving.

“The motorist was detected during a road safety operation on the A1, between 7pm and 10pm on Thursday, September 18.

“During the operation seven fixed penalty notices were issued for excess speed, a further three people with licences outside of the jurisdiction were reported to the PPS for excess speed and a motorist was reported to the PPS for excess speed, an expired licence and no insurance.

“Our message is simple - there is no hiding place for those who ignore road safety. We will continue our road safety operations, but our role is very much secondary. It is vital that every road user takes personal responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others.”

If you speed, take drink or drugs and drive, fail to wear your seatbelt, drive carelessly or dangerously, you run the real risk of killing or seriously injuring yourself, your passengers or some other innocent road user. Help us prevent deaths and injuries on our roads.”
