Motorist fined and banned

FINES totalling £300 and a one week ban from driving have been imposed on a Ballymena man for motoring offences.

David Robert O’Neill, (24), electrician, of Kincora, was fined 150 and disqalified from driving for seven days for not having insurance, and fined 150 for driving while disqualified.

He admitted the offences which occurred on January 3.

The court heard that sentence had been deferred from April 13 and that since then O’Neill had passed his test, and both MoT’ed and insured a vehicle.

His solicitor told the court that his client could take up immediate employment as an electrician “if he has a licence”.

Sentencing him, District Judge Desmond Perry told O’Neill: “I’m giving you a chance here today - grab it!”
