Motorists key in teenager mugging investigation

POLICE are appealing to motorists who witnessed a violent assault - and sounded their vehicle horns - to get in touch after a teenager was badly beaten.

The 18-year-old man was set upon on the Church Road at around 3.30pm on Tuesday, January 3.

A small red car pulled up behind the teenager as he was walking away from the Valley Leisure Centre.

Two men were said to have jumped from the vehicle before attacking him.

He was beaten to the ground and his wallet taken in the assault.

One of the attackers is described as around 30 years old, with a bald head and wearing a green hooded top.

Police are appealing for information. A police spokeswoman said: “Officers believe a number of passing motorists witnessed the attack and that some sounded their horns at the time.

“Officers are keen for these people to get in touch.”
