Moutray hits out

DUP MLA Stephen Moutray has hit out at Minister John O’Dowd’s announcement of £170million spend on 15 schools throughout NI and the fact that none of the local controlled sector post-primary schools are included.

Mr Moutray said, “I am bitterly disappointed that Minister O’Dowd has again showed total disregard for the Post-Primary Controlled Schools sector particularly in the Lurgan area.

“Minister O’Dowd needs to recognise that the people have spoken with regards to the retention of the Dickson plan and their opposition to a comprehensive school as previously proposed by the Board. It is time for Minister O’Dowd to step up to the plate and fund new builds for all three schools.”

“The only problem we have within the Craigavon area is the estate issue and this is an issue that can be resolved but instead we have a Minister who is blatantly ignoring the controlled sector because they didn’t back his ideology.”
