Odd jobs wanted

A locally-based Christian group are preparing to practice what they preach by volunteering to work for the community.

The voluntary arrangement will see representatives from SPARK carry out odd jobs including gardening, decorating, house clearances, in fact anything that can practically be arranged.

The initiative from the group will take place from August 8 to 12 and anyone who wants to take advantage should contact Connie on 077839 67353.

Council records condolence to WWII veteran

BALLYMONEY Borough Council has paird tribute to a local WWII veteran who passed away recently.

Speaking at the Council meeting last Monday, the Mayor, Councillor Ian Stevenson said: “I was saddened to learn of the passing of Bill Balmer a local WWII veteran who served in the Royal Marines and also gave service in the UDR during the 70’s.

“Bill was an active member of the joint RBL and Council working group which brought to fruition the lasting memorial to those from this area who served in the two world wars and other conflicts. I offer our sympathy to his wife Lizzie and the family circle.”

Car boot sale

THE Building Committee of the Ballymoney Church of God on the Garryduff Road have arranged another car boot sale in the spacious youth halls this Saturday 7th August.

The event will run from 11am with stalls priced from £5. The halls will be opened at 8:00pm on Friday evening prior to the sale for stallholders to set up. To book a table please contact Marlene or Peter on 028 2766 8029.

Organisers have designed the sale as another great family day out with ‘something for all age groups’ and everyone will be warmly welcomed. Past sales have proved extremely popular drawing large crowds from far and near including the stallholders themselves.

For all those attending there will be plenty of catering options on offer. ‘Bethany Kitchen’ will be serving hot dogs, burgers and chips while inside the halls tea, coffee, soup, stew, sandwiches and cakes will be available.

This is a golden opportunity to sell your unwanted or new goods and to find a bargain. Why not take time out to pop along and browse. You might even see something that takes your fancy.
