Moyle DPP holds first public engagement clinic in Ballintoy

SPEAKING about the DPP's most recent public engagement initiative the Chairman, Cllr Robert McIlroy said: "We decided to embark on a series of outreach DPP Clinics in an attempt to open up further channels of communication with the community with the objective of listening to the views and concerns of local people regarding crime, anti-social behaviour and neighbourhood policing.

“I am delighted to report that we recently held the first of these clinics in Sheep Island View in Ballintoy on Thursday last week.”

Cllr McIlroy went on to say: “We had an excellent turnout in Ballintoy, which led to a very positive engagement with local residents and representatives from various stakeholder groups in the area.

“The local police Inspector, Inspector Bryan Hume, also attended the meeting, along with a number of my DPP colleagues, and all those present engaged in a very robust discussion about local policing”.

The Chairman also stated: “I am very keen to build on the success of this first clinic and will be sending out written invitations to individuals, groups, and organisations in other areas of the district, where we don’t regularly hold our main public meetings, in an attempt to widen the scope of our engagement activities”.

In summing up the Chairman said; “I envisage that these clinics will not only provide us with the opportunity to engage, first hand, with local communities, but they will also facilitate greater dialogue with local neighbourhood officers and, if necessary, help to find solutions to the issues and concerns that may be brought to our attention as we move around the district.”
