Judith and Aron Mckee’s youngest daughter Grace, three, was born with Pulmonary Atresia with a VSD, a heart condition which means that blood cannot get from the right ventricle of her heart into her lungs.

Mr Simpson joined the McKee family for a cheque handover to the charity at their home in Maryville

He said: “Once again I am delighted to be able to speak so highly of the efforts the McKee family have given to the work of Children’s Heartbeat Trust.

“The excellent coffee morning that was organised a few weeks ago raised an exceptional £4317 for the charity.

“It has been a privilege to work alongside the McKee family in recent months and to play my part in pressing the Health Service for better provision for children suffering with cardiac problems.

“I count the family as dear friends and I have endeavoured to assist them in whatever way possible as they seek to raise awareness of congenital heart disorder and the pressures being faced in Northern Ireland

“Their daughter Grace has been to the fore of the campaign and has been my inspiration as we seek to get the appropriate services for children and young people with this condition.”
