MP launches travel safety leaflets

The leaflet is aimed at people who travel to other countries within the European Union (EU) on holiday or for business.

Mr Campbell launched it locally at Coleraine Travel Agency, Nutt Travel.

The MP said “At this time of year people right across Northern Ireland may be about to travel abroad with friends and family on holiday, or to pursue business contracts.

“It is important that those travelling abroad have all of the information and resources needed to make their trip safe, simple and enjoyable.

“This leaflet provides advice in seven key areas of travel: passenger rights, health and travel, airport security and documents, driving abroad, securing accommodation, currency and charges, and advice in an emergency.

“This covers useful resources including the Foreign Commonwealth Office Travel Advice Service and the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).

“There are also links to free EU apps for checking whether you can claim compensation for interrupted travel and getting important country-specific tips for driving abroad. Whether it be making the ordeal at the airport that little bit easier, or ensuring that you are protected if something goes wrong, this guide can go some way to making journeys to Europe a more enjoyable experience for people living locally.

“This guide is an excellent source of information.”
