MP welcomes work on Ballysally houses

DEVELOP. MLA Gregory Campbell and Adrian McQuillan visited Phase one of a redevelopment of homes in Ballysally on Friday, with Mathew McLaughlin, Project Co-ordinator Oaklee Homes and James Dixon, of Dixons Contractors.CR6-151SC.

There are 19 vacant properties in the Ballysally estate which are owned by SHAC Housing Association and managed by Oaklee Housing Association.

Welcoming the work Mr Campbell said: “Phase one, which has just started is to reburbish 10 properties in Mossvale Park and Oaklee Housing have informed me that the remaining properties in Glenvara will form phase two and are scheduled to be completed in the course of 2014.”

Last year the Minister responsible for Social Development Nelson McCausland MLA in a reply to an NI Assembly Question from me said he was committed to ensuring that all of these vacant properties are refurbished as a matter of priority and that plans to refurbish 10 houses would be undertaken in the first half of 2013/14.

“I am pleased that a start has been made to refurbish the first phase of these properties. This is good news for Ballysally to remove the dereliction and continue the improvement that has come about in the area in recent years. It will make more housing available as well as help to regenerate the area along with other positive programmes that are undertaken within the community.”
