MPE owner doesn’t accept ‘obsolete’ recognition agreement

The new owner of the Maydown Precision Engineering (MPE) plant says it won’t adhere to a 30-year-old recognition agreement marked for the attention of Schivo Chief Executive, Seamus Kilgallon, that was handed in at the factory by members of the Unite trade union on Thursday afternoon.

A spokesman for Schivo NI said: “The document handed in by Unite dates back to 1985 and has been superseded many times, while the handbook referred is also out of date. Schivo NI continues to adhere to all current agreements.”
