Caitríona Cunningham was inspired to become an MS Society volunteer by her sister Eimear, who had progressive MS, and died in 2005: “I’ve now been a support volunteer for a number of years and it’s an incredibly rewarding and varied role. Sometimes I’m talking about the emotional impact living with MS can have on someone with the condition, as well as the effect on their family. At others, I’m telling people how they might be able to get a grant to help with adapting their home. I got lots of training which has made be feel really confident and have had support throughout the process. This is a great way to make a difference and meet new people, I’d definitely recommend it.”
