MS Society takes a Cafe Break

DURING MS Awareness Week from April 30 to May 6, the Newry, Mourne and Armagh Branch of the MS Society Northern Ireland will be joining forces with branches, members and volunteers from the MS Society across Northern Ireland in challenging some of the misconceptions about Multiple Sclerosis.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is the most common debilitating neurological disease in the western world. Here in Northern Ireland over 4,000 people are affected by MS, mainly young adults and yet so little is really known about the disease and misconceptions about its impact are common.

Margaret O’Hare, Branch Chairperson Newry Mourne & Armagh branch invited others to get involved also.

“During MS Awareness Week we will be organising a number of activities aimed at raising awareness about MS in this area and encouraging people to get active for MS,” said Margaret. “This could mean joining a local support group or volunteer for your local branch or organise a fundraising event. Our branch works hard to provide a range of services including financial and emotional support for people.

“Raising awareness about MS is also an important part of what we do and MS Week provides us with the chance to do just that.

“Our branch is organising a Cake Break on Wednesday May 2 in the Old Church Hall Café beside Centra Loughbrickland from 11am to 1pm with a guest speaker from Citizens Advice.

“The Windsor Bakery Banbridge has kindly donated their wonderful pastries for this event. As part of MS Awareness Week we would like to invite people from the surrounding areas to come along and support us on the day.
