A police spokeswoman said a body had been found on Cloughey Beach and added that they were not treating the death as suspicious.

It is understood that Mrs Carey, who was a home care worker, left Waringstown last week and drove to the North Down beauty spot where she and her husband had a caravan.

Her funeral service was held at All Saints Parish, Lisburn on Monday at 2pm. Interment took place in the adjoining churchyard.

Mrs Carey is survived by her husband Paul, children Alfie, Robyn and Charlie, her parents Linda and Dennis, sister Lindsay and the wider family circle.

Mayor of Craigavon, Councillor Carla Lockhart said her thoughts and prayers were with Mrs Carey’s family.

“This is an awful tragedy within the Waringstown community and my heartfelt sympathies are with her husband, Paul, her three young children, Alfie, Robyn and Charlie, the wider family circle and her friends at this very difficult time.

“I will be praying for the family that the Lord will give them the strength day by day to cope with the aching void.

“Words at this time seem so meaningless when dealing with such a tragedy but may the family know that there are those round about them praying for them,” she said.
