Mum Rosina enjoys her special treat

ONE of the district’s mums enjoyed a well-deserved day of pampering and relaxation ahead of Mother’s Day this year.

Rosina Copeland was the winning mum in the Leader’s Mother’s Day competition and was treated to various luxury prizes in Avenue One Beauty Clinic in Gilford as well as a sumptuous lunch in the nearby Linen House Tea Rooms.

The prize, worth more than £200, included a body wrap, massage, facial and mani-pedi and Rosina’s daughter Michelle - who nominated her mum for the prize - said she had a perfect day.

“She really enjoyed her day’s pampering,” said Michelle. “Mum said all the staff were lovely and couldn’t have been nicer when they were giving her the treatments.

“She suffers from arthritis and so wouldn’t normally go for things like that but she said she had a great day. She really deserved to win and we’re so happy she got a day’s pampering for Mother’s Day.”

Michelle said she and her five siblings then treated Rosina to presents on Sunday, rounding off an enjoyable weekend.

Avenue One owner Sarah Callan said she was delighted to be able to offer the prize from her salon.

“We are delighted to be celebrating 10 years in business this year and were really pleased with the opportunity to work with the Banbridge Leader on this competition.

“This is a fabulous prize and we really wanted to spoil the winning mum in the salon as well as treating her to a nice lunch in Linen House tea rooms afterwards. We have a very loyal group of local customers and were delighted to be able to provide this special prize for one very deserving mum.”

Rosina’s son Colin also nominated his mum, and described her as a great mother and grandmother.

Speaking at the time he said, “ think my mum Rosina deserves this prize because she brought six children into this world and has never complained once. “She now has 16 grandchildren whom she loves just as much as her own children. She’s been without dad now for four years since he passed away. She gets very lonely, but we all do our best now to help he as best we can, she is an outstanding person and someone to whom I’m very grateful too. She looked after my dad for 25 years through his illness and I think that deserves this one off prize.”
