Mum’s ring, met at uni - who else could it be?

IT’S a tale which has excited people across the world. A young couple meet at university. He proposes using his mother’s engagement ring, and they get married amid much joy on April 29th.

Except it’s not Kate and William. It’s Lisburn man Ian Megarry, 30, whose father Isaac owns the well known chip shop Rumbles on the Longstone Road, and his new bride Lyndsey Charles, 24, who grew up in Stroud in Gloucestershire and who tied the knot on Friday in Tebury, England.

And Ian and Lyndsey were delighted when they realised they would be sharing their big day with the Duke and Duchess of Combridge.

Ian’s mother Irene Hewitt, a sister in the Coronary Care unit at the Mater Hospital, said the couple were more than happy about the way it all turned out.

“When Lyndsey was interviewed by the BBC she said she was very pleased to have a constant count down to her wedding and tongue in cheek said they had even put some bunting up in Tetbury for them. In fact, Tetbury is a village near Prince Charles’s home at Highgrove - so it wasvery in keeping with Royal theme” said Irene.

“Lyndsey was also very much in trend with a lace topped dress and although not as long as Kate’s she did have a train.

“Whilst the BBC caught my tears on camera Lyndsey’s mum and mad were both very proud and emotional during the service. We are going to organise a party this side of the water and many people have promised to come over,” she added.

Whilst mystery still surrounds Kate and William’s honeymoon destination - Ian and Lyndsey are heading on a Mediterranean cruise next month.
