The 69-year-old’s body was found by the side of her house in the town’s Knockancor Drive around lunchtime on Wednesday.

Also known as Margo, she was well-known in the area having owned the Madame Margo hair salon – continuing to work on a part-time basis following retirement earlier this year.

She was married to John and was the mother of three children.

A 32-year-old man arrested in connection with Mrs Evans’ death is understood to be her son Alun Evans.

Speaking at a press conference last week, Detective Chief Inspector Una Jennings described the investigation as being at a “very early stage”.

She said: “A post mortem is due to take place to determine the cause of death.
