Murder suspect arrested in Ballymoney car park

The 29-year-old man appeared in court on Belfast on Sunday.

Gary Flynn, from Dublin, was arrested on Saturday by PSNI officers on a European Arrest Warrant.

It is understood he was detained in a car park in Ballymoney at around 3pm.

He is wanted by Gardaí in connection with the killing of 27-year-old father-of-two Seamus O’Byrne, who was shot dead, in Tallaght in March 2009.

He was gunned down in front of his girlfiend and infant son in the driveway of their home in Tymon Park North.

Flynn did not speak when he appeared before the Royal Courts of Justice for the commencement of extradition proceedings.

His lawyer Philip Breen told judge Patricia Smyth his client did not consent to being extradited.

He was remanded in custody to appear at a review hearing on Friday.

A 35-year-old man, Garrett O’Brien, from Clover Hill in Bray, Co Wicklow, was found guilty of Mr O’Byrne’s murder last year and was sentenced to life imprisonment.
