Murder victim thought to be Chinese businessman

The man murdered on the Caddy Road on Thursday morning is understood to have been the owner of a local Chinese takeaway.

He has not been officially named.

It is understood that he had closed his premises and was driving towards Ballymena with a family member when their vehicle was intercepted outside Randalstown.

A number of vehicles are understood to have been involved in the incident.

The woman, who is her 50s, was brought to hospital, but her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Speaking earlier this morning, PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Talbot said: “At this time investigations are at an early stage but I am treating this as murder.

“I appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious vehicles or activity in the Caddy Road area at around midnight to contact CID.”
