Musical cheer at fair

Larne Choral Society provided a musical entertainment spot as part of the recent Victorian Fair in Whitehead.

A large crowd of the visitors took an afternoon break at the Methodist Church on Balmoral Avenue to listen to seasonal music and instrumental entertainment at this busy Victorian celebration.

The first half included pieces by Schubert, Goodall and Gershwin. Elaine Hawthorne, the musical director, and Gwen Dick, the accompanist played piano duets during the interval. The second half gave the audience a taster of pieces to come in the forthcoming Christmas concert in early December. The choral pieces finished with the uplifting ‘I have a dream’ by Ruth Elaine Schram in recognition of Martin Luther King’s famous speech.
