Name released of man killed in quarry accident near Knockloughrim

The man who was killed in an industrial accident at a quarry near Knockloughrim has been named as Victor Nicholl.

Mr Nicholl, who was 62, was working at FP McCann’s quarry at Drumard Road when the accident happened on Friday.

According to the BBC NI news website, it is understood Mr Nicholl had been driving a 60 tonne dumper truck shortly before the accident.

He was described as a hard working man who had been with the company for the past 19 years.

He was married and came from the Fallahogy district outside Kilrea.

The Health and Safety Executive will now carry out an investigation to establish exactly how Mr Nicholl died.
