Martha Stinson told the Times that it was the second time in recent months that a baby gift pack composed of nappies, towels, blankets and a brush and comb set had been taken from the shop.

The ‘nappy cake’ idea originated in America and is now a popular gift idea for new parents in the UK.

Worth £20, the pink set stolen on November 21 was destined to raise money for Drop Inn Ministeries’ charity projects.

“Anyone who would stoop so low is a waste of space,” the shop’s manageress Martha Stinson told the Times.

“We had three delivered, two blue and a pink one, and it was the pink one that was taken. I would like to raise awareness of this theft so that people know this item has been stolen.

“This is the second time this has occurred and the hamper, which was made up free for us, would have helped support humanitarian aid work in countries like Haiti, Africa and Brazil.”
