National honour for sheltered housing in Carrickfergus
The Abbeyfield & Wesley supported house in Model Avenue was highly commended in the National Housing for Older People Awards.
In a unique process overseen by the national housing charity for older people, Elderly Accommodation Counsel (EAC), residents score their housing scheme on a variety of statements relating to both the quality of the property and the care, support and general sense of wellbeing they enjoy there.

The ceremony was held in Manchester but staff from Abbeyfield were not in a position to attend. However, the certificate was presented locally by the Mayor of Mid & East Antrim, Councillor Billy Ashe during a visit.
Peter Howard, Abbeyfield & Wesley vice chairman, said “This award is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of staff and it is great that, through the residents’ input in this competition, the excellent support and lifestyle which can be enjoyed by older people in Abbeyfield houses has been recognised.”
