NEELB Orchestra to perform at new Amphitheatre

THE North Eastern Education and Library Board’s Intermediate Orchestra will be one of the first live performers at Coleraine Borough Council’s new redeveloped Amphitheatre at Station Square in Portrush.

The concert will be hosted on Saturday, June 23 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm with a further concert planned for Portstewart on Sunday from 2.00pm to 3.00pm.

Mayor of Coleraine, Councillor Sam Cole, said: “The NEELB Intermediate Orchestra, are an outstanding group of talented young musicians and I am delighted they are coming to perform in the Borough.

“It’s great to see such a talented group being one of the first organisation’s to perform at the new Amphitheatre in Station Square. I would advise everyone to come along and enjoy what is sure to be a very impressive showcase of local talent.”

Colin Elliott, NEELB Intermediate Orchestra Conductor said: “This is the third year the orchestra has performed on the North Coast and this is rapidly becoming a highlight in the orchestra’s annual calendar.

“These young musicians are especially excited as this year they will not only get to sample the buzz that precedes the Irish Open Golf Championships but they will be instrumental in creating a festive atmosphere with their programme of light classical/film and Irish music.

“To add to the excitement they will be the very first orchestra to perform at the newly refurbished Amphitheatre at Station Square in Portrush.”

The Amphitheatre is part of the newly developed £2.3m Station Square complex which will be officially opened on the 21st June.

Should the weather be inclement over the weekend the concerts will move to St Patrick’s Hall in Causeway Street on Saturday and Portstewart Town Hall on Sunday.
