The group have arranged to meet at the Irish school on the Lenamore Road at 11 a.m.

On a facebook page dedicated to finding the missing man the group posted:

“As neighbours of John Concannon myself and a few others would like to assist in the search to bring him home.

“We were thinking Saturday November 21st and Sunday November 22nd leaving from the Irish school on the Lenamore road around 11am.

“I realise it’s short notice but the change in the weather today and the length of time since the last sighting of John has really promoted us to feel that the search needs to be stepped up.

“If anyone would like to join us attend this event as all information will be posted here. If everyone could please share this event, even if you can’t attend in order to find as many volunteers as possible before the morning we would be grateful.”

Mr Concannon, who is 71 years of age and has dementia as well as suffering from deafness and anaemia, was last seen 11 days ago around 5.40pm walking along the rural Lenamore Road in Derry in the direction of the border.

It is thought he may have taken the wrong bus home and become confused when it followed a different route.
