Net solution to rock falls

AN engineering scheme begins next week at Garron Point in a bid to reduce the likelihood of potentially deadly landslides.

A specialist contractor is to install safety netting on the rock face adjacent to the Coast Road.

The work is to start on Monday (September 13) and will continue for eight weeks. DRD Roads Service, which commissioned the scheme, has said it will seek to minimise disruption by using the adjacent Tower Road as a diversionary route, adding about four minutes to journey time.
