The body, which was set up to help promote Lough Neagh, made the announcement at its annual AGM in Ballyronan last Wednesday.

Eimear Kearney, Marketing manager at LNP, told the audience that the new “destination app” was just weeks off.

And that in it the public would find listings for accommodation, attractions, activities, food & drink and events and featured day trips much like the information on www.discoverloughneagh.com.

People are becoming very reliant on their mobile devices, especially when travelling,” Eimear told the Mail. “We hope our app will make accessing information about Lough Neagh and its waterways easier for them.

“It will also help promote the local tourism businesses and what is on offer in the local area.”

Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, councils, NIEA, RSPB and community organisations, Lough Neagh Partnership has been involved in 27 integrated projects around the Lough.
