The new governors, Catherine McFarland and Martin O’Kane, were appointed on May 1, 2012 for a period of four years. Dr Farry also announced further appointments to the Governing Body of the North West Regional College. Councillor Shaun Gallagher was nominated by the Western Education and Library Board. His appointment took effect from May 21, 2012 and is for a period of four years. Berni Smyth was elected by staff of North West Regional College. Her appointment took effect from December 14, 2011 and is for a period of four years. Referring to the appointments, Dr Farry said: “Colleges have a crucial role to play in our economy through their support for learners, businesses and communities. These appointments will help ensure that the College continues to have a qualified and committed Governing Body to provide it with strategic leadership and direction.”
