New £3.3million facilities at Friends'

Work on new accommodation at Friends' School Lisburn has been completed following a multi-million pound investment.

Education Minister Peter Weir visited Friends’ School this week for the official opening of the new facilities.

The £3.3million project was delivered through the School Enhancement Programme which provides much needed facilities to improve the school environment.

The investment has provided a new two-storey block to house music and mathematics classes, and the refurbishment of the third floor of the main building to accommodate the history department.

Speaking at the official opening, the Minister said: “I have been very impressed by these excellent new facilities. I am sure that the £3.3million investment at the school will have a positive impact on pupils, teachers and school staff now and for generations to come.

“Investment under the School Enhancement Programme is having tangible benefits on our schools creating a better place where pupils can learn and flourish.”

In conclusion the Minister thanked Principal Stephen Moore and the Chair of the Board of Governors, Dan Stinton, for the invite.

He said: “The success of the School Enhancement Programme is evident by the excellent facilities at Friends. I wish everyone connected with the school well for the future.”
