Also present was Sonya Crawford, Ballymoney Borough Council Countryside Access Officer, who organised training for the group.

Nordic Walking developed as a fitness activity for skiers in the off season. Specially designed poles are used so that both upper and lower body are excercised, making it more effective than regular walking. This is only one of the many activities offered by Causeway U3A.

Local U3A Chairman, Stuart Pollard, said: “We have over 30 sub-groups where members can keep healthy, learn new skills or just have fun. There are lots of activities available, from golf and pilates, through art and computer classes, to dancing and holidays abroad.”

Causeway U3A has activities for retired and semi-retired people throughout the week across the Coleraine Triangle area.
