In 2007 David and Alice Campbell moved from well paid work and comfortable living in England to Bangladesh, to open a children’s Orphanage in Dhaka and to establish a Mobile Medical Clinic providing free treatment and operations for the poor.

With just the support of family members, a few friends and Christian churches they managed to establish a small Children’s Project in Dhaka and to date have provided hundreds of surgical operations to many who otherwise would never been able to afford such treatment.

When David suffered a stroke himself in 2011 and had to return home to the UK for urgent medical attention, the inspiration came to open a Charity Shop in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire to financially support the work in Bangladesh.

The Shop has gone from strength to strength and still continues to this day. The need for more funds to expand the work in Bangladesh has brought David back to Northern Ireland his father’s birthplace and in a few weeks time he and his Bangladeshi wife Alice will be opening their second Charity Shop in the City of Lisburn.

Having already had first hand experience of opening a Charity Shop without the backing of a large organisation David and Alice realise they need as much help and support as they can get. They are appealing for any volunteers who feel they can support this work to get in contact with them as soon as possible. If you feel you can give a few hours or even a few days every week, please get in touch.

They are particularly looking for Key Persons with leadership/management skills to take on the responsibility for the management and running of the Shop one day or more each week on a voluntary basis, as well as volunteers to help to support them. They also need a ‘man with a van’ to collect furniture and someone knowledgeable to take on and organize the book department.

From Saturday August 1 you can also bring your donations to the shop premises 13 Railway Street. The shop are in need good quality items of clothes, shoes, bric-a-brac, children’s clothes and toys, bedding as well as electrical goods and good quality books for the book department upstairs. They will also take good items of furniture but cannot collect them at the moment.

For further information email [email protected] or alternatively call David or Anthony on Wellingborough 01933 778068.
