New Chief Executive for Newtownabbey Borough Council

NEWTOWNABBEY Borough Council has announced its new Chief Executive.

Mrs Jacqui Dixon took up the post of Chief Executive as of Thursday, April 1.

Mrs Dixon BSc, MBA is a graduate of Queen’s University and the University of Ulster. She commenced her employment with Newtownabbey Borough Council in 1999 when she was appointed Economic Development Manager. In 2005 she was appointed Director of Development Services at Craigavon Borough Council and she returned to Newtownabbey in 2007 to take up the post of Director of Development Services.

Speaking about her new appointment she said: “Firstly, I would wish to pay tribute to Mr Norman Dunn who is retiring.

“Norman is going to be a hard act to follow. He has had a lifetime of experience with Newtownabbey Borough Council and, amongst his achievements; he demonstrated tremendous vision in leading the development of the civic headquarters at Mossley Mill.

“I am extremely proud of the reputation the Council has as an organisation of excellence and innovation.

“The commitment of the elected members, the corporate management team and the staff make this happen on a daily basis.

“In the challenging times we all face I feel very honoured to be appointed as Chief Executive and it will be a privilege for me to continue to promote the culture and values that Newtownabbey Borough Council is known for.”
