Island Voices is the initiative of the local community development association, and has been meeting for the past several weeks at the Gobbins Centre on Saturday mornings.

Currently comprising of 15 ladies and one gentleman, the choir is keen to recruit others with a love of music.

“You do not have to be able to read music, just be able to sing,” says co-ordinator Hilary Bailey

People are really enjoying it and we are hoping to have an opportunity to perform next month, that’s at the planning stage,” she said.

Hilary said the choir was interested in new members from Islandmagee and the surrounding area and under choirmaster Colin Swann they have been enjoying a challenging but rewarding time.

With everything from more traditional pieces to Coldplay, variety is assured, but the choir will welcome more members, including more male voices.
