New committee in place after AGM

The Mourneview, Grey and Hospital Estate Community Association has elected a new committee fowllowing its Annual General Meeting.

The new committee has been given a heartening recommendation from local Councillor Carla Lockhart, who wished them well in their efforts.

DUP Councillor Lockhart wished the new committee well in their efforts to regenerate and improve community facilities going forward.

Speaking on the issue Cllr Lockhart, who conducted the election of officers in Mourneview Community Centre said, “I want to pay tribute to the outgoing committee many of which were re-elected to the new Committee for 2015/2016.

“It was great to hear about the working going on in the Estates and the vision for the future.

“I have and will continue to work with the community group to try and improve and enhance the area.

“I would commend the chairperson Mr Jonathan Mercer and indeed all the office bearers in their continued efforts.

“Community work is not an easy path with many demands being placed on workers, however, we are indebted to the many community and voluntary workers who day and daily strive to make the area they operate in a better place.”

She concluded: “I also wish to commend the group on organising a very successful kids Halloween party in the Community Centre on Saturday past.

“I was very impressed at the numbers in attendance, the community spirit was evident and the children evidently enjoyed the fun and activities.”
