New diverse city calendar

MAYOR Alderman Maurice Devenney has welcomed the launch of a new ‘Spice of Life’ diverse city calendar for 2012 and said it was the perfect gift for Christmas.

He said the production of the calendar was in keeping with the Council’s commitment to promote good relations and work to build a shared and better future for all.

“This calendar is a great way of celebrating our city’s diversity and the fact that our Council area is home to over 50 different national identities.

“It is colourful and dynamic and depicts, through images, how our city has progressed to embrace a variety of cultures and traditions.”

Carol Stewart is a community relations officer with Derry City Council. She believes the calendar is a very positive way of promoting good relations and making the wider community aware of the rich diversity that exists in the City Council area.

“This has been a great project to work on. We have been delighted at the response to the photographic competition and the feedback we have received regarding the calendar has been very positive,” she said.
