New exhibitsexplore 1910to 1930 period

A JOINT exhibition exploring the hidden history of the people of the North West who lived through the tumultuous 1910-1930 period will run in Londonderry and Enniskillen until June.

The exhibition is being held at the Tower Museum in Londonderry and Enniskillen Castle Museum.

Entitled ‘Connection & Division 1910-1930’ it explores the impact of events such as the Home Rule controversy, the First World War, the Easter Rising, the War of Independence/Anglo-Irish War, Partition, civil war and the establishment of the border - on the local landscape of the north western region.

Craig McGuicken, Curator of Derry City Council Heritage and Museum Service said: “This project has been a wonderful opportunity to increase our collections and knowledge of this period of history.

“The outreach work we performed with local communities was so worthwhile. It was fascinating to see that the history of this period still resonates so strongly today.”

Sarah McHugh, Manager of Fermanagh County Museum Service said: “This project has been a great way to develop the museum’s collections of this important period of our history.

The exhibition continues at the Tower Museum in Londonderry and the Enniskillen Castle Museums until June 30.
