New gallery opens

A NEW gallery featuring leading artists has opened its doors in Lurgan town centre.

MLA Samuel Gardiner formally opened the Dunlop Gallery last Thursday down Gardiner’s Court above Love Coffee in High Street.

The man behind the venture is John Dunlop who has been in the art business for 30 years.

For the last ten years John, originally from Blackers Mill, Knocknamuckley, has had a flourishing business in Greyabbey.

“I must say I have had a wonderful response,” said John. “There have already been some collectors coming in and three paintings were sold on the opening day.”

Among the works on show are some from local artist Emma Spence who lost her father Noel, and brothers Graham and Nevin, the Ulster rugby star, in a tragic accident at their farm in at Hillsborough.

There are also paintings from loyalist Michael Stone.

Well known names like Markey Robinson, JB Vallely, Dennis Ormeshaw, Charles McAuley and Vittoria Cirfice are all on show.

The gallery is open from 11am until 5pm from Tuesday to Saturday.
