New Glengormley logo promotes shared village

'SAY No to Division, Share our Village'. That's the clear message of new logo for Glengormley which was launched this week.

Young people from the local area were invited to take part in a design competition to promote Glengormley as a place for everyone as part of ongoing work between Newtownabbey Borough Council and the Community Relations Forum.

Given the brief ‘Our Village is a Shared Village’, the entries were judged by a panel including former mayor John Scott; Kathy Wolff, Community Relations Forum; Ian Patterson, Chair of Glengormley Chamber of Commerce and local parents Amanda Mullan and Rebecca O’ Reilly.

Councillor Scott said: “I am seriously impressed with the talents and sentiments shown by these young people in their designs.”

Kathy Wolff, Community Relations Forum added: “It is clear local young people of all ages see a place where people of all races and all community backgrounds can come together and enjoy themselves.”

The overall winner was Glengormley Youth Centre with their joint effort ‘Say No to Division’ and the winner in the junior section was Jenny Bell from Mallusk Primary School.

The logo is set to be on display in businesses in Glengormley during the summer period.
