New greenway proposed for Nelson Drive and Clooney

Derry City and Strabane District Council are hosting a series of community engagement events to gauge public opinion on the development of a greenway linking Caw/Nelson Drive to Clooney.

The information sessions are being held on Wednesday, December 2, from 4pm-9pm at Ebrington Primary School, Thursday, December 3 from 4pm-9pm at the Conference Room, Foyle Arena and Thursday, December 3 from 4pm-9pm at the Crescent Community and Cultural Centre, Caw.

Encouraging the public to attend and be part of the consultation process, a spokesperson for Council it is important that the local community get involved.

“Council is currently assessing the feasibility of developing a greenway (a shared walking and cycling path) linking Caw/Nelson Drive to Clooney, via the new Foyle College and Ebrington Primary School site.

“This proposed greenway would provide a safer environment for school children to access Foyle College and Ebrington Primary School, which is due to open in 2017. We are keen that all interested parties come along to the information sessions and give us their views and opinions on the proposals,” he added.
